It's time for New Year's Resolutions. Are you planning on working out? Would you like to have a personal trainer to take the guesswork out of designing the right workout for you? Then whether you're looking to get into shape, or just looking to lose some weight, GET FIT is what you are looking for.

GET FIT is your own Personal Trainer. Rather than providing a random collection of exercises, it gives you workouts designed by an experienced personal trainer. Workouts that it changes based on your feedback. And it doesn't stop there. All the exercises come with pictures showing you the correct form, and text telling you how to do the exercises, and warning you about the mistakes people commonly make when doing the exercises. GET FIT tells you what weight, and how many reps, to do when you start doing an exercise, gets your feedback, and then modifies its suggestions based on how well they've worked for you.

HOW IT WORKS

GET FIT gives you workouts covering your entire body:

VARYING WORKOUTS

Back and Biceps, Chest and Triceps, Legs and Shoulders

These are workouts where it's best you do a different one each time you work out. If you simply choose "Start Workout" every time you run GET FIT, it'll take care of the rotation for you.

Each workout should take about an hour to do. To keep you from getting bored, each of these workouts has three different exercise routines that it cycles through.

EVERY TIME WORKOUTS (found under OTHER WORKOUTS)

Calves, Abdominals

These should be done every time you work out, either before or after the above workout.

THE REST OF THE PROGRAM

If you'd rather work on a different muscle group than GET FIT has chosen for you, you can go to "Choose Workout", and select a different workout.

If you want to put together your own workout, you can go to "Choose Exercises", or "Choose Exercises By Muscle", select the exercises you want, in the order you want to do them (and you can click on the Disclosure Arrow if you want to learn more about an exercise), and then tap on "Create Workout" to start the workout. The workout will be called "Custom", and you can find it under "Other Workouts" for the rest of the day.

If you want to see what you've done, you will find that under "Workout Logs". That's also the place to go if you want to email a workout log to yourself, or to someone else.

"GET FIT Settings" holds your Preferences (they can also be set via the Settings Application, of course). Here you can set a default person to email your logs to, and tell GET FIT if you want the option of mailing your workout log when you finish a workout.

If you have music Playlists set up, you can tell GET FIT to use one of those playlists when you are working out. Or you can just tap on the Play Button (it's in the Navigation Bar when you are in a workout), and select which songs you want Get Fit to play. (GET FIT always does shuffle play of the songs you've chosen.)

If you've been playing around with GET FIT, and now want to actually start using it, "GET FIT Controls" will let you clear out everything you've put in so far, or just everything you've put in today. It will also let you see another "Tip of the Day", if you want to get a reminder on how to use GET FIT.
