The Mill, also know as "Nine Men's Morris", is one of the most ancient games in the world, played as early as Ancient Egypt and Roman Empire.
Each player starts with nine pieces, which move among the board's twenty-four holes. The objective of the game is to leave the opposing player with fewer than three pieces or no legal moves. (More info on how to play please click the App's info button.)
It has 5 levels of strength. Each skill is slightly different as style and strategy. The skills can be changed at any point during the game.
"Ghost the computer last move" will allow the user to track easier the computer last move (capture).
One main principle we had in mind when we designed this app was performance.
The computer graphic uses as little as possible of the available resources.
Also we designed the application for fast play, even we strived to have the assistant move fast on the max strength setting.
The game has 3 skins
- sports (default)
Game end detection
With a winner if:
- One player is left with less than 3 pieces
- One player doesn't have any legal move (for example his pieces are surrounded by the pieces from the opposing player)
With a tie if:
- both players repeat in a continuous sequence the same move 3 times
- 50 moves have passed since the last "mill"
- 250 moves have passed since the beginning of the game
Closing the App
Current game and statistics are preserved during close/restart of the application.
The game has "unlimited" undo for the current game. Once the New button is clicked, the game is set to new and the undo queue is emptied. Closing the app will clean the undo queue as well.
Changing the name of a player will reset the score.
Switching to assist mode or adjusting the skill level of the assistant will not reset the score.
We will love to get your feedback and we will do our best to take it in consideration for the next releases.
