A phallus is, of course, simply a “willy” with literary pretensions. You cannot avoid the phalluses of male sculptures, scattered through that synonym of beauty; the Louvre. Most visitors to the Louvre seem programmed only to see the likes of the Venus de Milo. But surely you noticed that while “willy” and pubic hairs absent themselves from female sculptures, a phallus will not? The author/photographer smiles at the anguish of artists between the legs. But then, laughter is part of appreciating art. (Written and photographed by TakashiHigaki/Office of Takashi Higaki).
